Ok hari ni aku nak tulis tutorial pasal Potret typography. Tak pernah dengar? Takpe, tapi kalau korang tengok hasil contoh dibawah ni mesti ko pernah tengok dalam majalah ke hapa. Tutorial ni aku ikut base on website 10 Steps. Tetapi seperti biasa aku akan execute guna GIMP.

Langkah 1

Cari satu gambar potret yang korang ade unutk digunakan dalam tutorial ni. Dalam kes ni aku gunakan gambar anak aku, nama dia, Muhammad Rizq Ariff.

Langkah 2

Crop kan sikit gambar korang(bergantung kepada gambar masing-masing) supaya muka tu muat penuh dalam frame.

Langkah 3

Lepas tu kita nak buangkan background yang ada. Disini aku guna Free Select Tool untuk select kawasan yang nak aku delete. Selepas delete, tambahkan satu lagi layer dengan melatarbelakang warna putih. Pastikanlayer putih tu berada di belakang layer potret tadi. Lepas itu jadikan gambar tersebut hitam putih. Ada beberapa kaedah untuk menjadikan gambar hitam putih. Yang paling mudah adalah dengan menggunakan tool desaturate. Pergi ke menu Color>>Desaturate dan gambar korang akan jadi hitam putih.

Kemudian pergi ke Color>>Posterize dan pilih level 4. Sekiranya semua langkah dibuat dengan betul korang akan dapat gambar seperti di bawah

Langkah 4

Create file baru dengan size yang sama, dengan menggunakan font yang korang suka taip apa saja perkatan yang korang suka. Font korang mestilah berwarna hitam. Pastikan perkataan-perkataan terserbut mempunyai latar belakang transparent. Savekan file baru tu sebagai word.xcf. Lihat contoh seperti dibawah.

Langkah 5

Sekarang kita nak jadikan perkataan-perkataan ini sebagai pattern untuk Gimp. Sekarang buka fail word.xcf dan resize image tersebut menjadi kecil agak-agak dalam 50px X 50 px.(kalau lagi kecik pon lagi bagus dalam 15×15) Dan pastikan canvas size juga mempunyai saiz yang sama. Boleh pergi ke Image>>Canvas Size untuk berbuat demikian. Dan hasilnya akan menjadi seperti di bawah. Save as kan image tersebut sebagai word.pat ke dalam folder pattern Gimp anda. Sekarang click Windows>>Dockable Diolog>>Patern untuk melihat pattern yang ada. Pada window pattern tersebut click refresh dan perkataan korang akan muncul menjadi salah satu patern dalam pilihan.

Langkah 6

Pergi balek ke gambar potret tadi, kalau korang perasan terdapat 3 tone warna yang boleh kita lihat hitam, kelabu terang dan kelabu gelap. Kita mulakan dengan warna hitam dulu. Pilih Select>>ByColor dan click mana-mana bahagian image berwarna hitam seperti dibawah.

Create Layer baru yang transparent. Pastikan layer tersebut berada diatas layer potret tadi. Sekarang sembunyikan layer potret dan korang akan dapat gambar sperti dibawah.

Langkah 7

Sekarang pergi ke word.xcf . Buat selection pada salah satu perkataan dengan Rectangle Select Tool. Kemudian click edit>>copy. Selepas itu click Windows>>Dockable Diolog>>Brush dan korang dapat lihat perkataan yang kita dah select tadi menjadi salah satu brush pilihan.

Sekarang pilih brush baru tadi dan gunakan tool Brush untuk mengecop perkataan tadi kedalam selection pada layer baru diatas layer potret tadi. Gunakanlah brush dengan saiz yang pelbagai dan ulang step tadi dengan perkataan-perkataan lain. Lihat gambar dibawah unutk contoh

Langkah 8

Lepas ni create satu lagi layer tapi kali ni yang transparent. Letak layer ni dibawah layer cop tadi. Buka diolof patern Windows>>Dialof>>Pattern dan pilih pattern yang kita dah buat tadi. Dengan menggunakan fill bucket tool isikan pattern tadi kedalam selection atas layer baru ini. terhasilah gambar seperti di bawah

Mengikut tutorial yang aku follow ni, dia kata kita kena buat sedikit border unutk menimbulkan sedikit perkataan yang kita dah chop tadi. Dalam Gimp pertama sekali kita kena sembunyikan dulu layer patetern tadi. Pastu clcik layer chop. Gunakan Select>>By Color unutk pilih warna hitam. Sekarang semua perkataan yang dah di cop tadi telah di select. Sekarang Select>>Grow selection tadi dengan size 1px. Lepas tu lakukan Select>>Invert. keluarkan balek layer pattern tadi click pada layer tersebut dan lakukan Layer>>Mask>>Add layer mask. Pilih Selection bila window add layer mask keluar. Sepatutnya korang dapat sedikit perbezaan selaps steps ini(aku cam tak perasan apa pon). Sila lihat hasilnya dibawah. Korang boleh lah try dengan ketebelan lain seperti 2 px dan tengok hasilnya, aku malas nak try.

Langkah 9

Sekarang korang ulanglah langkah 6 hinggalah langkah 8 untuk warnayang berikutnya seperti kelabu terang dan kelabu gelap. Untuk gambar yang lebih menarik korang sebenarnya boleh gunakan kombinasi warna font yang lain. Selamat mencuba. Chow dulu. Salam

I had tried so many programs available in the Internet and all was up to the free version only(reading email, watching ads,etc). Non was a success. Later, I decided to try a paid version. The first paid program I’d join was a MLM base ebooks selling program. It was about RM40 in order to join the program. We will be given  our own website in order to promote our e-books. I’d tried so hard to promote my first venture, from classified, email, forums and even flyers(did not materialize). I had manage to get quite a number of downlines, but the not so easy part is to ask them to join as a paid members. Before I manage to make anybody a paid member, the website of this program suddenly disappeared and history. Below is one example of the ads that I used to post which I manage to dig back from the internet

Talking about own website, I remember starting my first website using Geocities free service during my Universty days(2000). My first website was called cerihik.com which a portal for people to submit thier stories to be publish on the Internet. I would say it maybe among the first of its kind in malaysia at that time but unfortunately I did not take it seriously and I stop maintaining the website after about a year in operation.(can believe ka this…up to you).below is a snapshot of my Intro page

After so many failures, I was then introduced to a forum which full of information on online busines, Digital Point Forum. Here is the place i learn a lot about Internet, website, ecommerce, Graphic design, ebay, paypal,etc. Here is the point were I start to get involved in a real online business. Will be contine……….

So why I choose this simple tutorial, which even a 7 year old child could do it in a couple of minutes.
The answers…..

1. I just need something to start posting on my blog.

2. I don’t have Photoshop(Just being a good boy for not using a Lanun version)

3. Because of point number 2 I will be using GIMP to follow this tutorial.

Since there are not many GIMP tutorial on the net, one of thins I would to include in this blog is adoption of Photoshop tutorial by using GIMP, so in the future there will be many post similar to this(if I am not so the lazy lah).

Not to bebel some more, I will start the tutorial.

For this tutorial I will be using my second son’s picture Rayyan

First you will need to duplicate this layer of image since we need to use both of them later on. Then select the new layer in order to work on it. The filter we are going to use today is the motion blur filter. Select this filter by going to Filters—->Blurs—->Motion Blur.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we will be using zoom for the blur type. For the blur center, just choose the the coordinate you want the blur to start. You can check the coordinate by moving the the cursor on the imge and you can find the x and y information on the bottom left corner of the window. For me I will choose the coordinate at the center of the head( at least that is what the tutorial did). Lastly for the blur parameters, it is up to you to choose how much blur is required. as for me i find the above is quite ok

Next you need to add a layer mask to this duplicated layer. Right click on the layer at the Layer Dialog, choose Add Layer Mask…Then according to the tutorial you need to select the gradient tool and use it as a tool to remove the blur effect from the area of picture which we don’t require to be blur. In GIMP select Blend tool then select radial for the shape option and black foreground to white background for gradient option. Next make sure the layer with layer mask is selected and with the blend tool drag a line on the image and Tadaaaaa the blur effect on the effected area will be gone. You can undo and repeat this step until you satisfied with effect. You can also tweak the opacity of the duplicated layer in order to make it more realistic

For my case, I remove the blur effect on the face area and I changed the opacity of the duplicated layer at about 75% and finally got the result as above. That is all for now and enjoy the tut.
